Chicago: Case Study in Poor Cap Management

The NHL Awards have passed us by, the Stanley Cup has been hoisted by the Chicago Blackhawks and free agency is in full swing. Despite all the time that has passed, Washington Capitals fans are still left yearning from the far too early first round exit from this year’s playoffs. They are left thinking to themselves that could have been us, we do have a lot of the same qualities as the Blackhawks and yet we didn’t go all the way. After what the Hawks have had to do in the last few weeks, do Caps fans really wish they were in the same boat as Chicago though?

Another Defining Moment in a Special Season

The Washington Post declared that Sunday’s matinee match-up “may be a preview of the Stanley Cup finals.” After the thrilling ending in Chicago today, NBC must be salivating at that prospect.

From Boudreau(x)'s to Brashear, TX: My Summer Vacation

When my cousin in Dallas announced last year that she was getting married, I mentioned to Chanuck that we should go, especially since my parents live in Houston and we could visit there first. For a variety of reasons too boring to list, I decided that it should be a road trip. Surely I must be a masochist- who in their right mind does a 3000-mile drive with an active 13-month-old?

Out in the Heartland, a Rivalry Reborn

The matchup between the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks was the Original Six rematch so many fans and perhaps even the NHL wanted, while it was not a close series, it will restart a rivalry.
