New Jersey Devils’ General Manager Lou Lamoreillo met with media yesterday in the aftermath of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s decision to suspend Patrice Cormier for the remainder of the season, playoffs included.  OFB reader Eric kindly tipped me off to the exchange, which is published at the Devils’ site. Take note of the [...]

A New Level of Intolerable Violence Plagues Hockey

Today the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League will announce its final sanctions against Rouyn-Noranda center Patrice Cormier for his nauseating attack on Mikael Tam of the Quebec Remparts on January 17. His return has been long in the making,. After a career year three years ago Captain Chris Clark faded into obscurity. Two groin pulls, a wrist injury and a demotion to the third line later; the Captain has finally made his return from the abyss to become a critical part of the Washington team yet again.

A Tale of Two Western Canadian Gunslingers

There were two legitmate, impact no.1 defensemen on the ice at Verizon Center last night, one playing for Florida and one for the Caps: Jay Bouwmeester and Mike Green. Can you imagine suggesting that that would have been the case just three months ago? Next, imagine having suggested this back in October: between the two, Mike Green, [...]
