   Exactly, Mike… A soft, sharp angle goal followed by the idiocy of skating out of the crease to challenge the break-away… A low percentage shot in the dark… He would have been better served to be in the best position to block as much of the net as he could and MAKE the player beat you, instead of giving him a wide open net to shoot at…

   That said, a great effort until the final seven minutes of the third period… They controlled 95% of that game… They just need to finish as strong as they start…

   And Oates needs to finalize his decision on line combinations… The line of Ovechkin, Ribeiro, and Chimera last night was dismal… No points and a combined minus six… Success comes with consistent lines where they know each other strengths and tendencies…

   Still, a nice three game winning streak to climb out of the NHL cellar… Much more work to do, however…

   Mike, I just meant it more that the people who were completely freaked out a week ago just needed to give it a bit of time. Had the 2-8-1 happened in the middle of the season, people would have been upset/worried, but there wouldn’t have been calls to fire Oates, trade everyone, etc.

   In such a limited number of games, one hot/cold streak greatly changes how everything looks.
