Cliff, good idea but given his past history, can you imagine GMGM drafting thetwo-way players needed? He drafte Tom Wilson for sure but he also drafted a bunch of smufs in the past. Crease-clearing defensemen seem an obnoxious term to him as well as liking smurfs.

This team needs to be dynamited. They're a dumb, lazy, sloppy club that''s forgotten how to score. In 2009 they tallied 313 goals under coach Bruce Boudreau. Since then they've undergone a collective amnesia in that area under a succession of coaches who've tried to instill the idea of defensive responsibility all over the ice--but especially in their own end. The Caps' players still haven't learned. They consistently turn the puck over in their own end, then compound the error by not getting the puck OUT of their own end. Then their defensemen (including All-Star in-name-only Mike Green) take incorrect angles to the opponent's puck carriers resulting in odd-man break-outs... At first I thought that Washington was simply a poorly coached club. But since the same behaviors have persisted under three consecutive coaches I've concluded that the players themselves are at fault. All of the foregoing--added to the sad fact that their two most talented players look languid and don't move their feet on offense (Backstrom and Ovechkin) and for the most party haven't shown up against the league's best teams in the past two years, persuade me that their wooden headed owner should admit his (many0 mistakes in judgment, cut his losses, blow the team up, and begin drafting two-way players that give the Caps a legitimate chance at winning Lord Stanley's Cup someday...
