Head coach Bruce Boudreau said it was nice to hear music blaring from the Capitals’ locker room after the 4-3 win over Phoenix Monday night.
The victory snapped an 0-3-1 streak that included some fairly ugly moments along the way (hello, 7-1 loss to Toronto on Saturday).
What happened in the past 48 hours to precipitate the turnaround?
Will the benching of a healthy #28–Alexander Semin–continue this week, since the Caps seemed fine Monday without him?
Did the Caps get their obligatory once-a-season 4 game losing streak (or, even more momentous, last year’s 8-game losing streak) out of the way early?
And how did Boudreau seem to take the win (hint: relieved)?
Ted Starkey, author of Transition Game, and OFB’s Elisabeth Meinecke discuss below. Thanks, Chris Gordon of the NY Times/RMNB, for filming!
