Washington, the Hockey and Now Fast-Beer-Dispensing Town

What a week it’s been for beer! Saturday afternoon’s Caps-Kings matinee brought the hockey game debut of bottoms up beer dispensing in front of section 114 at Verizon Center. “Magic happens at section 114″ Ted Leonsis wrote in almost poetic tones this week in announcing the arrival of the humanity-altering (for the much better) technology. You’ve heard me praise the Capitals’ organization for the access they accord bloggers. Well, this afternoon I was allowed up close to view the first fast and magical pilsner pours. It was an eye-watering moment, bearing witness to such history, like being lined up to see the Pope parading down Pennsylvania Avenue back in 2008.

Saw this mentioned on Puck Daddy a few weeks ago. Still not sure how exactly the bottom of the cup seals, but it seems to be a vast improvement.

Based on score of todays game probably need fast dispensing system.

There’s a magnetic ring and a circular magnet at the bottom of the cup. It’s kind of cool to watch but pouring crappy beer in a cool way still yields a cup of crappy beer at the end.

It’s still Aramark, though – they broke the dispenser during Saturday’s pre-game warmup.
