From the Capitals’ web site:
The Washington Capitals received confirmation from the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) that the license plate has been authorized in the Commonwealth of Virginia. The bill in the General Assembly which included the Caps Virginia license plate was approved by the Senate and House of Delegates and recently signed off on by the Governor.
The Capitals are focusing on the next steps in the standard process to make available a special license plate as stipulated by the DMV. Artwork for the proposed design of the Caps license plate will be submitted to the DMV for a metal prototype and approval. At the same time, prepaid applications received by the Capitals to-date will be checked to ensure that they are current and complete.
Capitals fans in Virginia have until June 1, 2010, to submit a prepaid application in order to be included in the initial batch submitted to and processed by the DMV. After that date, fans will have to wait until the Caps license plate is available for purchase at DMV locations next season.
