The Caps made what most people feel is the first of two or more trades today sending a 7th round pick in the 2010 draft to Carolina for forward Scott Walker.
In 32 games this season, the 36-year-old Walker has three goals and two assists with a minus- 5 rating. Since joining the Hurricanes via a July 2006 trade with Nashville, the Cambridge, Ont., native has scored 43 goals, earned 60 assists (103 points) and accumulated 222 penalty minutes in 213 regular-season games.
Walker has 149 goals, earned 245 assists and totaled 1,153 penalty minutes in 820 career regular-season games with Vancouver, Nashville and Carolina.
Update: The Carolina Hurricanes, through Caps PR, provided some audio from Aaron Ward, Schott Walker, and Paul Maurice about today’s trade. Check it out.
