I thought Wednesday between games would be a good time to revisit my trip to Montreal and post a slideshow. It might also be a nice break from the Ovi knee/suspension talk. Overall, it was a great tirp with wonderful weather (for late November in Montreal), great food, nice people, and a lot of walking. If you ever have a chance to visit and take in a game, do yourself a favor and do it.

I’m not a Habs fan, but I am a fan of hockey’s hallowed history… and that’s why I still think it’s a disgrace that the old Forum has become a movie theatre. Sacrilegious that centre ice can be walked on, or that those creaky Forum seats now overlook a concourse of escalators and shops.
Too bad that only decades later have we realized that those old rinks — the Forum, Maple Leaf and Boston Gardens, the Stadium in Chicago — were more than just buildings, but living, breathing monuments to the game’s sacred origins. All should have been preserved as museums.
Great photos! Thanks for sharing!
A real taste of home! I can you see you did all the ‘touristy’ things… Great pictures from what looks like a great weekend in ‘la belle province’
Thanks all.
Ben, we only had 28 hours in Montreal so we were limited in what we could do. Poutine, pre-game dinner, hockey game, and post-game drinks were non-negotiable items on the to-do list. Wish we had more time… sleep got in the way.
Was a great time.
Great article and pics Gary – too funny. In looking through the pics it’s clear that we did the exact same things that day. We’re from Maryland, I went with my family of four to Montreal, stayed at the Fairmont, to Forum, old Montreal, went for poutine, and then the game. We say in first row of club level near the red line – think it was section 201 – just curious if you had any pics of us sitting there in our Caps jerseys. Wouldn’t typically ask but several of your pics appear to almost catch us. Thought I’d ask on chance you might share if you had. Tom
Outstanding photos! The shots of Fehr’s goal in the final minute were incredible and the pictures from Vieux Montreal made me want to go back again.
What kind of camera dd you use?
Thanks Bill.
I’m using a Canon XSi. Along with the standard lens, I have a 70-300mm zoom as well.
Still pissed I cut off Ovechkin on the shot of Fehr’s goal.
