NHL Faces Off with Facebook

The National Hockey League has staked its flag in the Facebook realm today, with the release of its official NHL Facebook Page.

Heads Up in This Chat Room

If the Flyers’ first visit to Verizon Center this season doesn’t carry big-game feeling enough for you, maybe the return of Killer to help cover it will. Killer had his share of run-ins with the Orange and Black while wearing a Caps’ sweater, and Tuesday night he’ll host Comcast Sportsnet’s in-game chat for Tuesday night’s [...]

Two More for Nyls

After being held pointless in his second game as a Grand Rapids Griffin, Michael Nylander played his third game in as many nights for the AHL club yesterday. The third time is a charm as he returned to the scoresheet with two more power play assists and a +1 rating in the Griffins’ 6 – [...]

Ten-Game Grade: Incomplete

I like a hockey team to play a solid 10 games in a new season before I weigh in with any value judgments on its roster relative to the previous season, and even then I don’t form hard and fast and unyielding impressions. The 10-game grade I’m awarding the Caps, despite their seemingly impressive 6-2-2 start, is incomplete.

My Eyes!

I note the Hershey Bears’ defeat at home last night to Binghamton. In my opinion they were not dressed for success. Look at those socks! Now cleanse your eyes:

LeBrun on Nylander

Pierre LeBrun mentions the Michael Nylander saga, among other things, in his ESPN Blog post from last night.  While it may be nothing new, it is interesting nonetheless. You may have noticed this week that veteran center Michael Nylander was sent to AHL Grand Rapids on a conditioning assignment. Because of his no-movement clause, he [...]

Caps Steal 2 Points in an Ugly Game: Caps 3 / Islanders 2 – OT

Just Don't Address Her as Puck Bunny

DCSportsChick will be live and on line in the Comcast chat room during tonight’s Caps-Isles’ tilt. Over the course of the 2009-10 hockey season you’ll see Comcast invite a commendable breadth of hockey voices into the in-game chat environment, and we think they’re on to something special with this fun engagement. OFB Housekeeping: RSS Feed

Inevitably, when you switch blog engines … things break. One of those things was our RSS feed. We’ve managed to get the feed back, however, it is only a summary and not the full feed. We’ll continue to work with MVN to get the full RSS feed back. In the meantime, please be sure your RSS reader is set to the following:

Nylander Assists the Griffins

Michael Nylander played in his first game of the season … as a member of the Grand Rapids Griffins. The Griffins beat the Abbotsford Heat 5 to 3. Nylander assisted on 3 of the Griffins’ goals and taking the 2nd star of the game. He was also on the ice for all 3 of the Heat’s goals, too.
