Yesterday’s post on “My Very Worst Date” was an especially unfortunate one, as our own Capitals were indirectly involved.
I had a block of tickets to a Capitols [sic] hockey game and needed one more body to fill a seat so I threw the invitation out to a couple of guys I’d been chatting with on a personals site. The one who was interested replied to my invite with, “You’d be hard pressed to find a guy from the Midwest who would turn down friends, hockey and beer.” So I met him in person for the first time at a bar across from the arena before the game.
We made it through the initial get-to-know-you stuff without any red flags, until he told me about some community service he’d done a while back when he was a Marine. Not to knock Marines, but I have not known many to volunteer time without it being mandatory. He finally fessed up that he got caught stopping traffic in the middle of a busy road for no reason. I asked him how much alcohol was involved, and he said “some.”
Hopefully the game had a better conclusion than the date did. To read the rest of the story, go here.
