The voice of the Hershey Bears, John Walton, was in the Verizon Center press box Monday night, and while I always enjoy catching up with JW on every visit to D.C. he makes, tonight’s was extra special for me — he allowed me to try on his brand new Calder Cup Championship ring during the second intermission of the Caps-Devils’ game. I’d never seen so many diamonds, nor felt such weight on my hand! (Apologies for the high-resolution hairy knuckles) It was massive and gorgeous, and also this: richly earned.
