Following up on that post-Flyers loss: Erskine had his worst game of the season by far; Bradley loses another fight (at least it was not a TKO this time). Big John cant let the Flyers own the crease in OT like they did tonight.

#2 has it pegged. I said for several years that the Caps could not move up with players like Bradley and Erskine on the roster. Both have become legitimate contributors, and with the team already having plenty of offense it will need defensive forwards and stay-home defenseman to step up. Erskine is much, much better than the player he was on arrival. Bradley can cover opposing forwards well. One plea: please do not send Bradley out to fight, ever. Hate to see his head turn into a speed-bag for opposing heavyweights.

The sky is the limit for him..to do what he does a 233lbs is nuts..predicting out 800 games in hockey is a bit far fetched however…he is the Adrian Peterson of hockey.

Didn’t AO predict 92+ goals this season? If he were to do that, I can definately see him hitting that 894 mark within 11 years. I think he has at least a few more 60′s and maybe even a 70 or two in him.

Jurcina had a bad game…soft..a couple give aways and weak penalty….this end unit is miles behind the goal tending and offensive firepower…

OV will have to play 12 more seasons after this one, and average what he did over his first four seasons to break 894 goals. Tough to do, but I wouldn’t count him out.

You are not the only person who thinks Boston will miss Kessel. Boston plays the North American-style game better than anyone, but teams playing that style need a flashy, skillful game-breaker when the system isn’t generating offense on its own. Kessel provided that. I don’t know if they’d have scored in those first 7 minutes last night with Kessel on the ice, but they would have had a better chance. And, if they had, the tenor of the game is entirely different.

I would put Matt Bradley in the same sentence as John Erskine as “fringe talent…to genuine contributor”. Ask me in 2005 if those guys would be around in 2009 on our opening night roster for our championship caliber team and I would have called the police on you.

And the win was made even better by the fact that I was able to nab Ovie and Semin back-to-back in the hockey pool last night. Sweet victories, all of them!
