Farewell, Johnny; Welcome, Mike

Just not too well: Brent Johnson is a Penguin as of today. Tarik spoke with Johnson about an hour ago:

“I did wait a little while hoping something would pan out with
Washington,” Johnson said of waiting three weeks before signing with
another team. “But it wasn’t in the cards. It was just one of those odd
man out situations again.”

Johnson, who is coming off hip surgery, now joins the Penguins with the expectation of being the No. 2 behind Marc-Andre Fleury.

Johnson has been a class act throughout his career, and handled his playing time (and injuries) while with the Capitals like the consummate professional he is. Given the goaltending situation in D.C. it makes sense that he moved elsewhere, but he’ll be missed.
