I certainly figured that the 2010 Winter Olympics would play havoc with the Vancouver Canucks’ mid-winter scheduling, but I didn’t figure on this — a 14-game roadtrip, beginning January 30 in Toronto.
Canucks’ fans won’t see a single home game the month of February. That’s not much of a surprise, really. But the Canucks don’t return to GM Place until March 13! And it’s not like the Canucks board many buses for road games to begin with. The upside to this travel turmoil is fast-accumulating frequent flier miles; the downside, besides all that airport food, is the sacrifice of competitive fairness with so wildly unbalanced a home and road schedule.
Good thing, I think, that we can’t see the Winter Games in Washington.
