Thanks for the reminder of what this day is about, lot of people forget. One of my uncles is buried at Arlington.
They interviewed a member of the burial detail on CNN this morning and he said he walked by the graves of people he had gone to high school and college with. The anchor was having trouble holding back tears after the piece.
My parents were in town this weekend, their first visit since my wedding. My dad’s a Vietnam vet, and we did lots of Memorial Day activities, including the Sunday night concert on the Capitol grounds, and the wreath-laying at the Navy Memorial on Monday morning (Honorary Chief Ernest Borgnine was the celebrity guest). I’m a lefty politically, but I have nothing but respect for our armed forces and those who serve their country.
