I voted other, would like to see one in Halifax, Nova Scotia. (Yeah, like it would ever stand a chance of happening)
My question is, what makes Dippy the Wonder Squirrel think that if a franchise in the Arizona desert can't make it, that one in Las Vegas will?

I don't see how Southern Ontario would fly. Not only do you have the Leafs putting up a fight to keep them out, but you would also have to deal with Detroit and Buffalo.
I think Seattle or Portland would work the best if it were to happen.

@Sonja: Back to Winnipeg gets my vote, too (though, living in St. Louis for now, the spectre of an STL-KC rivalry makes that a close second).

Bring them to Hartford. Combining the Jets with the Whalers would be incredible.

Paul, yea that is a valid point. I was just thinking that the team could garner some support in the area, but I do see how the Blackhawks would try to block the move a la Peter Angelos.
The thing is, most Wisconsin folk do not support Chicago teams (from what I've seen, I could be wrong). Packers over Bears, Brewers over Cubs/Sox, Bucks over Bulls. I find it hard to believe hockey fans in the area would be willing to root for the Chicago hockey or Minnesota hockey. But then again, I could be totally wrong. The NHL does seem to space its teams more generously than the other major sports though, so again, I see your point.

I am a die-hard Caps fan (I grew up in Northern Virginia) who has lived on the West coast for the last fifteen years. I've lived in Los Angeles, San Jose, & Seattle, where I live now. While Seattle has two WHL teams (Seattle Thunderbirds & Everett Silvertips), Vancouver is simply too far to drive to catch an NHL game. I'd love it if the NHL relocated a franchise to Seattle or Portland. It's not like Key Arena is being used by the Sonics anymore...

Reply to Jeremy (#6):
Milwaukee would face the same type of obstructionism from the Hawks that the Leafs would throw at any market in southern Ontario.
The NHL would give a lot more weight to the Hawks complaints because the market is not nearly as deep in Illinois/Wisconsin as it is in Ontario.
The Leafs being the Leafs will ask to be indemnified by the league probably to the tune of something like $100 million to place a team in Ontario. They could do something kind of like the hose-job Angelos and the Orioles did to the Nats in taking almost all their TV revenue for the next decade or two.
