Caps Shut The Iron Curtain … Again: Caps 4 / Rangers 0

Incredible energy from Matt Bradley tonight. We needed it in a bad way, but didn’t know where it was going to come from. When Matty stepped up in the first period tonight it energized the rest of the boys in a way that they haven’t been energized through a lot of the series.
Also, has anyone else picked up on how patient John Erskine seems to be. From walking up to Avery and taking that stick to the face earlier in the series to playing tough in front of the net without “taking the bait” and committing penalties…he’s really struck me as a mature player these last few games. Sometimes I wish he’d lay people out when they take whacks at Varley, but overall really quality work from him!
Total goal differential in the series after game 5 is Caps +2.
We can win this series. One game at a time now.
yeah definitely in this series erskine has been the picture of self restraint, i’ve noticed that too!
a lot of lucky bounces have gone the rangers way throughout the 5 games, and i think that the caps just need to put the grit and grind into their game like they did tonight and 4 days ago. honestly, i think that if luck continues to not roll their way, putting that work into getting those tough crease-crashing goals will only help them deeper into the playoffs (should they get there… *crosses fingers*)
Got some pics from the game on my blog if anyone is interested, click my user name. Great game, atmosphere and hope the Caps can come out smokin’ on Sunday, get a goal or two and take that crowd out. If they play like they did tonight, see you Tuesday at the Booth.
Wow!
anyone notice how in both games the caps have won, the second goal has been the result of the rangers almost tying the game? in game 3, some ranger almost scored and before you know it, semin’s flying down the ice with the rebound. same thing happened last night with brads! i love this team’s ability to turn “almost bad” into “GOOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!!” within seconds
