Our great friend from the Hershey Bears’ broadcast booth, John Walton, endured what can only be described as a bittersweet Saturday night, with an extra ladle or four of bitter. The Bears defeated the Philadelphia Phantoms at Giant Center Saturday night, 3-2, and with some help from the Norfolk Admirals, who knocked off Wilkes Barre Scranton, earned the East division title. That’s 106 points and a date with the Phantoms in the first round of the AHL playoffs for the Bears — wonderful stuff.
But John was doing his level best during last night’s radio call to keep tabs on the action at Verizon Center. You see, he’s a Miami grad. Do yourself a huge favor and read his reckoning of what that was like on his beautiful blog: ‘Somewhere Between Heaven and Hell.’
