It sure sounds official – this morning’s Boston Herald claims a source informing that Fenway Park’s Green Monster will offer a backdrop for the 2010 Winter Classic. The Bruins of course would host, and while no opponent has been confirmed, speculation is that it’ll be another Original Six club.

It would be a real loss for the NHL to not feature the Capitals in this game.
What are the odds that if this is true, it is Boston vs New York Rangers?
What Original Six teams have not played in a Winter Classic yet?
Boston’s biggest rival remains Montreal. I think the Rangers will get a Winter Classic game in new Yankee Stadium, perhaps soon. Montreal seems to me to be the target opponent for 2010.
I will be there, you can count on that, starting to save money for tickets now. Go Bs! I hope they play the Habs…the game will be insane.
I think B’s-Habs in ‘10 would be awesome for hockey. I think Caps-Flyers at Camden Yards would be incredible for ‘11.
Tyler, I love the Camden Yards idea. The Nats’ park would work well, as would the Phillies’ but the middle-ground aspect of Camden Yards — as well as its history as the park that started the new-retro stadium trend — would be terrific.
It would be nice to see the Caps in the Winter Classic at Camden Yards (closer to my home). I recently offered an alternative version of the Winter Classic, one that could feature the Capitals annually.

A Caps home game in Baltimore? The stadium will be filled with orange and black, and not because people confused it for a baseball game.
Hey! Found your site while searching for this picture for my own blog! Love the fact that Boston gets to host this game this year!
I hope to see the Coyotes and the Predators out in the middle of the desert. It would be a perfect atmosphere. Everyone would be on horse back.
I think that basketball should have winter classics. I know people dont think it would work because black people dont like the cold but they could wear big ecko sweaters instead of their long white Ts. The first game could be played in New York. The knicks host LB23 Lebron James and the Cavs out on the streets. Vintage down and dirty street ball. 3 on 3. No rules.
