Game Day Open Thread: Caps vs. Leafs

Can the Caps continue their domination of the Leafs this season, or are they too busy plucking their eyebrows out?  Let’s hope it’s the former and not the latter.

I’d like to see the new guy from Hershey lace ‘em up. Give either Brads or Semin another day off.
The new kid is from the Toronto area and it would be a sweet moment for him.

good to see Bourque getting some minutes. Gerber was dominant last time the Caps faced him but I’m compelled to think that he won’t be as good as then.
Caps are kind of holding off for the playoffs it seems, but if Boudreau can find the right motivation there is reason to believe they could finish the season as the top seed in the East.
Caps win it 4-2 in Toronto.

so obviously i’m sad that the caps lost; holding onto the domination from the first in the second might have prevented OT altogether, but-
it was SO NICE to see a GOALIE expressing emotion (in skaters, it’s clear that ovi’s the go-to emotion guy). curtis joseph and the ridiculous grin on his face after sudden death, and then the excitement after the shoot out…his reaction to his team’s win made me not so sad about the caps’ loss. plus, the guy was clearly a total hero tonight. he deserved the win

Quite a curtain call by Cujo. Ten fun finishing minutes however doesn’t undo the pedestrian preceding 50. Tampa on Friday night ought to be more interesting.

I’m dumbfounded by our inability to make subpar teams look subpar. Two quick first period goals would have deflated a lesser team into submission. The Caps need to come out with a sense of urgency right off the hop, not stall for a period until the opponent gains confidence. Take command!! We are the team to beat!! Proactive not Reactive!

I’m starting to worry that this isn’t some “possum” game they’re playing right now, that this is as good as they can really play against anyone. Theo has looked better though, but can he keep it up?

We should have won this game, but lazy play in the second period seems to be a common trend lately. We need to win all the games down the home stretch to end on a positive note.
