I’m watching dumbfounded as Hershey Bears’ green St. Patrick’s sweaters are being auctioned off on the Giant Center ice sheet after the team’s 3-2 victory over Bridgeport. Just about every player’s sweater garnered a grand. A Karl Alzner sweater fetched $1,500. Michal Neuvirth’s sweater went for over $2,000. So did Mathieu Perreault’s. Andrew Gordon’s #10 fetched $2,300. Chris Bourque’s siphoned a cool $2,800. That’s Chris, not Ray, Bourque. And it’s not like it’s a packed arena of 10,000 bidding; it’s three lower bowl sections, not even filled, of remarkably generous hockey fans.

Have you been there before for one of those auctions?
That seems about normal, maybe a little higher, than ones I’ve been to in the past.
I think Robitaille’s sweater might have gone over $3000 once last season.
I was up there for the night the auctioned off the Caps jerseys, and that seems about right.
We rock the jersey auctions…
I was there too! GO BEARS! It’s always nice to go out to the farm for a weekend, they looked pretty good to me. With a few exceptions, of course.
That is the third auction in the last couple of weeks. They auctioned some awful looking pink Valentine Jersey’s for exorbitant prizes. No real hockey player should ever wear those. Nevertheless, it’s a tax write off and people bought them.
