The First Rule of Fight Club . . .

. . . is being violated right now by talking about Fight Club. Yet DJ Gallo bravely risks Tyler Durden’s ire by presenting his 10 Hockey Fight rules on ESPN’s Page 2 today. Here’s an excerpt:

1. When levying insults, the fighters should strive to use formal and respectful terminology such as: “I engaged in coitus with your beautiful mother one evening prior.”

5. Purple-nurples may be administered for a maximum of 10 seconds.

9. Fight participants retain no monetary rights to fight footage sold by the NHL for marketing purposes.

    Hello Mike!
This is a bit off subject but….When should we start to panic about being dumped in the first round again? And should we be worried about Fla having the chance of catching us? Just wondering…Curtis

Awesome. I am partial to rule #10 – 10. All rules can be ignored when fighting Sean Avery.

Curtis, the Caps should certainly be worried about Florida catching them… after all, the Caps caught Carolina last year. There’s a very slim chance of it happening though — despite the team’s recent slide, their talent and drive are still strong. Nevertheless, a challenger for the division lead should help the team refocus and rediscover their winning ways.
Regarding the playoffs, to quote Douglas Adams: “Don’t Panic!” The recent slide is not an indication of a team collapsing. The Caps have played well against every big Eastern Conference team and can do so again in the post-season. IMO the first-round opponent most dangerous to the Caps would be Philly, because the Flyers’ style seems to frustrate the Caps. I’m not predicting a Cup this year (though it’s certainly possible), but neither do I see the team folding in the first round again.

While on the subject of the WWL (allegedly) from today’s awful announcing, they had a caption contest from Wilbon wearing the Canadiens throwback jersey on PTI.

“ESPN released an official apology stating, “We have recently become aware of an incident on PTI involving the promotion of hockey. We want to assure our viewers that this was an isolated incident and ESPN has no plans to expand or actually provide coverage of the NHL. We are reviewing procedures to ensure that this will never happen again. Reminder: Check ESPN for up to the minute coverage of the aspiration of A-Rod’s cyst.”"- WB,SB

A little more reassurance for you Curtis, from Mike Vogel:
“Tuesday’s game is one of only four of Washington’s remaining 15 games that are against teams that would be in the playoffs if the season ended today.”
