Over My Christmas Break I…

While in Michigan I had the unique opportunity to ride the Zamboni between the first and second periods of the Red Wings game. I was both nervous and excited to climb up on the metal monster. After signing my waiver I realized that I was going to do something few fans have the opportunity to do. When the period came to a close I made my way over to the “parking lot” and climbed up on it. It really hit me once we rolled out onto the ice. I was the center of attention for the moment in Joe Louis Arena. I’ve heard people say that once you’ve gone around once you think to yourself “Ok I can get off anytime.” Who ever says or believes that hasn’t had the opportunity to set foot on the ice they have seen their idols skate on.

I’m fortunate enough to have my kids in a youth hockey organization that enlists volunteer parents to cut the ice between games, etc., and man is it freakin’ sweet!
