Unleash The Volume

Image of yelling mouthDan Steinberg of D.C. Sports Bog has a terrific article about the deafening crowds in the Phone Booth. The players and coach certainly notice the Washington Capitals fans’ rowdy, full-throated support of the team:

“I heard rumors that it was really good and I saw in the playoffs that it was good, but I didn’t think it was gonna be as loud as it is,” Karl Alzner said. “Especially when fans do the Unleash The Fury thing at the end? There’s been times where I’ve [turned] to guys on the bench and asked them if their head’s hurting, because seriously, it’s so loud….I don’t think I’ve ever played in a louder building.”

For more about the crowd’s impact from Matt Bradley, Bruce Boudreau, and Bengt Gustafsson, check out the full post here.

I’ve been looking for a good, quality version of that. I guess the copyright restrictions keep them from putting that out on the web?
None of the ones that people have caught on their cell phones have good audio.

Gotta tell you. I really do enjoy the “Unleash the Fury” at the end. Still hating the “O” in the national anthem, and the “red”, meh, not the best, but the “Fury” and the excitement that goes into it, fantastic.

Was the goal counting cheer (1, 2, 3… all your fault) started at the Tampa game last week? I was there for that game, so it would be pretty cool if the cheer became a tradition.

I approve of yelling “Red!” during the national anthem. In fact, Cornell fans do the same thing at Big Red hockey games. I think all Washington team fans, Caps or otherwise, can learn a thing or two from the college hockey fans when the Frozen Four comes to Verizon Center in April.
