Rangerland, a New York blog about (you guessed it) the New York Rangers, asked us a few questions — some serious, some snarky — about the Washington Capitals, D.C. as a new hockeytown, and more. I had fun with the answers and we hope you enjoy it too. Check out the Q&A on their site; here’s a teaser:
RL: This is a two part question – 1) Is it true that the
Capitals are having tests done on Nylander’s virility in order to
enhance Ovechkin’s and 2) Is there any truth to the rumor that the
Capitals have already signed A.O.’s first three male offspring to
contracts?OFB: Did you get those rumors from Eklund? Though I did hear
the Rangers just signed Ovechkin’s dad for $12 million to center their
“youth line.”

If you go to the WaPo opinion page online today, they have a pic of Bill Richardson…almost a dead ringer for Ted, at least in that shot.
Great post! It’s good to see that other towns are noticing our newly minted hockeytown credentials (especially one as self-absorbed as NYC).
Nice. FWIW, my favorite “OV moment” was against the Rangers. That no one else ever seems to remember it or it doesn’t make his list of top goals is still astounding.
I want to say in 2006, I remember a game where he was up against the boards near the hash marks with 4 Rangers between him and the net. He stick handled around all four in about .2 seconds and scored with a nifty high wrister. My seats are behind that net, second row, and usually we cheer first followed by everyone else as they see us go up and the light go on. This time, we all sat there in dumb-founded stupor for about a second. Sorry, Rangerland…
