wow…. simply…. wow
AO, per his norm, was a wrecking ball and 2 goals to boot.
#26 on his 26th (birthday) pots his 1st for the game winner
Un-freaking-believable
Now that was an early Christmas present!
WHAT A GAME
that was incredible! ovechkin was amazing
yeah, that first period was pretty bad goal-wise
but we came back! and boy did we come with a vengeance!
i’m so happy for morrisonn, he scored! he hadn’t scored since feb 26th, he turned 26 today, and his number is 26, now THAT’S what i call a lucky number!
AHHH!!! That’s all I can manage right now, pretty much in shock. But YES!!! So happy words cannot explain
YESSSS SWEET
*shrug* Piece o’ cake.
I’m still in shock.
When Jose gets the nods in the future, let’s spot the other team 4, since he only starts to play once the fourth is in the twine. AO, you’re my hero!
NO THANK YOU o.o He needs to start playing sharp from the very first shot, consistently, and then we can talk about goalie tandems.
Anyone else think that Johnson looked like death warmed over on that bench?
I’m still in shock, too. I thought we were toast, I really did. I shut the game off until the beginning of the third, and then I couldn’t tear my eyes from what I was seeing.
Although, I think a better title for this victory is “Miracle on 34th Street”.
haha cleverrrr
this is definitely the game i most regret not being able to watch all of (dinner with friends, but once we checked the score in the 3rd no one could tear their eyes away from the screen)
DISASTER…
For my Blueshirts. Well done Ovechkin and lovers of him. You earned every damn goal —- FIVE UNANSWERED GOALS IN A ROW….
A GOOD OLE FASHIONED MSG ASS-WHOOPING!
TDR
Dear Santa:
Thanks for the present. There will be a couple of Guiness waiting for you tomorrow night.
Good call Nova… I’m pouring Santa a Lagavulin single malt tomorrow night for sure.
A game like this proves (if anyone had doubts) that OV is the reigning MVP and if the season ended today he’d be this season’s MVP. The desire and leadership he showed last night was nothing short of amazing. Down by 4, he’s still flying around, hitting everything that move and playing with so much intensity that it finally ineffected his teammates. I don’t what relationship goalies have with their defensive lines, but I think Theo needs to start taking a leadership role to be successful. He has young defensemen playing, so his experience and confidence will be crucial in a strong defense.
I do have one question, does anybody know what Nylander is doing when he’s on the ice? It seems he just doesn’t fit the Caps system.
Shaone Morrison picked a great time to break his scoring drought! If I hadn’t seen it, I’d have thought it was a great storybook line, but I’m not sure I’d have believed it.
Great comments all, and a special thanks to The Dark Ranger for visiting… read a from-the-seats perspective of this game on his blog here:

Argh! I fell asleep with it 3-0 in the middle of the 1st period. Been scurrying around looking for info, and of course found a good page on a site in THEIR city:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/24/sports/hockey/24rangers.html?ref=sports
NAFYEKCOH: What Nylander was doing on the ice was drawing the D and making the smart pass to a wide-open #26 for the GWG.
That’s what I get for checking in on XM at the end of the 1st, seeing 3-0 NYR, saying “Well, screw it” and not watching the game. Shame on me!
Damnit! I turned it off after the 3-0. When I saw the final score I was so happy and angry at the same time haha.w
