Readers who’ve been with us a bit will recall that WTOP radio’s Jonathon Warner, the Caps’ beat reporter for the station and the host of ‘Saturday Night Caps,’ enjoys hosting bloggers on his Saturday in-season show a handful of times each season. WTOP is located at 103.5 and 107.7 on your FM dial, 1500 on your AM. We were delighted to join Warner last season for a lively chat about the Caps, and we will do so again this Saturday, between 6:00-7:00. Eric McErlain of the Sporting News and Off Wing Opinion will join in the in-studio fun, and we’re especially excited that also appearing on Saturday night will be ‘Pond Hockey’s’ Andrew Sherburne, who will call in and give us some detail about the movie in advance of Monday night’s one-night-only screening at the Avalon.
You can catch an Internet streaming of ‘Saturday Night Caps’ here.
We would love for you not only to listen and call in Saturday night, but email us over the next two days with suggested topics to address on the air with Jonathon. (We’re going to try and get Jonathon to wear a touque during the broadcast with us.)
Speaking of Monday night at the movies, Comcast’s Lisa Hillary has agreed to serve on a three-judge panel to evaluate the best looking touque worn by a movie-goer. Hillary, an Ottawa native, knows her touques — by her own admission she owns “about 26 of them.” Hillary will join Sherburne and me on the touque tribunal. The wearer of the winning touque will be awarded a giant Pond Hockey movie poster signed by Tommy Haines and Andrew Sherburne.
We will have another terrific giveaway Monday night: a classic-looking Capitals’ touque signed earlier today by a Washington Capital with a very significant connection to the outdoor game of hockey.
So listen to your radio Saturday night right before the Caps’ rematch against New Jersey, in a touque, and then head warm-headed to The Avalon on Monday night for the 8:00 Washington premiere of ’Pond Hockey.’
