aahhhhhh i love alex semin!!!!!!! what a hero!!!!!
So is this the springboard we need or is this going to mask the problem for another few weeks? I was about two minutes away from being tempted to lay into this team and how some guys need to figure out that there’s a little less wiggle room when you aren’t producing and you’re making 2, 4, 5…9 million.
Thank goodness the comments are alive again!
Russian Mafia took it to the ‘Canes, and Brent Johnson had his second solid outing in a row and this time was rewarded with a victory.
The Caps did not put forth a satisfying overall effort, but 2 points (as well as keeping a rival from getting that OT point) makes for a terrific ending. Plus Brashear’s pugilistic wizardry was sweet.
While Semin and OV were the stars, I thought this was Backstrom’s best game of the year. Very active, and great stick handling.
semin is so amazing! he’s so gonna get mvp or something good this year!!
I’m loving the Russian line! And let’s hear it for Johnny –nothing short of amazing! Let’s build on this momentum –Go CAPS!
so since Johnson is not used to being front and center, the general consensus is that he wouldn’t be good as a constant starter.
after tuesday and today though…i think otherwise. his game was near flawless, his save percentage is high, and his saves are some of the prettiest and most skillful i’ve ever seen. with a little bit of training for stamina, i think he’d be better for the caps than theodore, whose confidence has seemed, at best, shaky. Johnson is sharp and confident, and he really goes that extra mile to stop shots that seem impossible to block.
thoughts?
Wife and I took her parents to their first NHL game. Great game to watch, especially the last 10 minutes.
It was good to see them show up for the final period. The PK lines need to put more shots on the net, and less passing. When will they learn? And overall they need to go to the net more than they did.
But what a wild third period. I was impressed by t the effort. Whatever BB said between the second and third, he needs to put it on an endless loop, and have these guys listening to it in their sleep.
It was interesting to see OV getting more separation than most games lately. And Semin’s play has stepped up big time, and tonight just added to the impression.
Way to go Cardiac Caps, 2 big points tonight.
I heard a lot of fans screaming to shoot the puck, I have to disagree. I was looking at the shot counts at that time is was late in the third, 30-32. Ward already had shown that he was up to the task of stopping routine shots. Our boys were trying to make the passes work which in turn makes Ward work more to stay on the angle.
Some of our guys looked really slow and lazy over the first period and a half…IMO, they need to learn to come out of the gate blazing. All in all, a good game to watch, and great game to attend.
