A Breakthrough Season?

Who is lodged at the very top of the NHL’s scoring lead this morning?
The answer might surprise you.
Alexander Semin has 7 goals and 7 assists in his 8 games in his 2008-09 campaign. His 14 points tie him with Pittsburgh’s Evgeni Malkin to pace the NHL scoring lead.
Imagine what the Caps’ attack will look like once his countryman gets going.

Good thing we’ve got him signed for one more season!

Semin has been playing great this year, but how long is it until teams take their best defensive players off Ovie, and put them on Semin?

  3. @ Tyler: And when that happens, the other Alex blows up and starts scoring again. Either way, the Caps are in good shape offensively.

All the “experts” always said Semin was more talented than Ovechkin. Now I understand why.

Semin’s got sick hands, once he’s within 10 feet of the goal its all over. I’m glad to see him playing like this early, the knock on him has been that he’s useless until Dec/Jan. Maybe 28’s got the 60-goal year in him now?
Will we be able to keep him here? He could shine so brightly elsewhere… (Blade Runner anyone?)
