While I'm glad THN's pulled their nose outta Sid's butt, I can't help but think that cover's a little...ummm...ummm. Yeah.

Yeah it does look a little omo-hay. :-)

But never in my lifetime did I think this would be said about *my* team.

So the Caps are the most exciting team, the housing market has been pillaged, the stock market is down 30%, conflict and strife reign supreme...just sayin'...

Ugh....Thanks for the attention, but two men embracing one another....

I do like the cover title however.

There is something Hockey Falls-ish accurate about hockey fans who would gaze at what is unquestionably the most flattering image of the Caps on the cover of THN, ever -- and perhaps of any print media outlet ever -- and react with an instinct (1) to critique it, savagely, and (2) to infer homoerotic overtones to it. To these readers: were you granted award of a session of skinny dipping with the Girls Next Door, would you beg off if they presented themselves with bunions? The image in question was from last spring's playoffs, and occasioned unprecedented pandemonium in Verizon Center. What would be your suggestions for an alternative moment of triumph?

This pic is from game 1 of the playoffs after Green scored one of his two goals of that game I believe. I've had this pic as my computer wallpaper ever since. I think it captures the excitement of that game and the team perfectly. Plus it highlights two of the teams biggest stars. I just wish that THN would have kept the background of the Phone Booth going nuts. All in all its great to see the Caps recognized.

Sounds like some people have issues unrelated to hockey. Maybe that photo reminds them of Peter Grey's line in "Airplane", "Billy, do you like wrestling?"

Great googley-moogley, people! The Caps get a totally AWESOME cover on THN and all you can see is latent homosexuality! Do you go, "EWWWWWWWWWWWW!" during the group hug *any* hockey team does after a goal? Idiots.

As for the blue...that's kinda a reasonable question: :It offers the best contrast for the red of the sweaters and the white of the text. More contrast=a more striking cover.

(Man, you shoulda seen my first response. I'd have been banned.)

Yowsa. OK, we know you commenters have testosterone, please stop stinking up the room with it. I think the cover is awesome. The Caps ARE an exciting team this year...depth at all positions, with depth back on the farm in Hershey too. Bears fans can't wait for the season to start...and for once we don't have to fear injury or callup. Seriously, get over yourselves and let's get back to being excited for our team. The Caps should really be something.

I don't think it's a dumb cover, just looks a little odd with the background removed. I could see some very funny Pensblog photoshops coming out of that.
