A Haven for the Hockey Malnourished

The coldest days best warm my hockey heart

Reggie Dunlop Goes Home

We were saddened to hear of the passing of Paul Newman.  Though better known in the sports world for his involvement in auto racing, hockey fans will always know him as Reggie Dunlop, player/coach of the Charlestown Chiefs in Slap Shot.

In honor of Paul Newman, here are a few clips from Slap Shot -- just cover the kid's ears as there is more than one "F Bomb" dropped.

Tonight we'll raise our pint with the toast "Old Time Hockey, none of this wrestling sh!t".

Requiescat in Pace.

Nice tribute. I wonder if Coach B ever actually met Paul during the filming. Anyone know?

@ dcrock, it seems Bruce Boudreau did indeed meet him... here's his reaction to the news (from the Caps' official site):

"It’s unfortunate," said the Caps bench boss. "My wife phoned me [and told me] that. What a great humanitarian. A fabulous actor. I watched so many of his movies. As you know, I met him a little bit. A humanitarian to the end. He had a great life. My condolences go to his family."
