Serves em right for beating the Bullets in 79…its the revenge of Kevin Grevey’s ghost
Of course they’re leaving town – All that moisture in the air makes for bad hardwoods…the warping and twisted ankles…season-ending groin injuries. Hey wait a minute?!!
send seattle the penguins!
Lest I be accused of not having a sense of humor again, I gotta say I think its sad when a city loses its team. Unless it was pittsburgh losing the penguins. That would be funny.
Sorry I couldn’t vote…I grew up in Washington so I knew who they are. I would have voted if there was a selection of “who the hell cares, it’s not hockey”.
I say stick a hockey team there, but how about a 4th option: It’s almost always a sad day when a sports team leaves when it still receives fan support.
This is just a crying shame. But at least the city got to keep the colors and logo. So I’m sure Seattle will have a new team soon. Maybe this will give the city the impetus to renovate Key Arena, which may make is hockey-suitable as well.
I’ve always wondered why Seattle doesn’t have a team. It would be a good fit. Put a team in Seattle, and another in, say, Hamilton. One in the east, one in the West. Done.
(Worry about Vegas and KC in the years ahead. Not now.)
I’d rather not see any more expansion myself.
I believe even the minor hockey league teams don’t do well in Seattle so probably not meant to be. They’ll probably get an expansion if the go through with the 300 mil in renovations. From what I’ve read the arena is lacking in ameneties for what its worth (apologies for the sp i’m tired, heh).
Screw Las Vegas Seattle should have a NHL team. They already got minor and jr hockey there. Could u imagine a seattle vancouver rivalry. the NEW pacific division VAN SEA SJ LA ANA
move either ATL PHX or FLA or all 3 SEA KC and Hamilton all can becomne great hockey markets
@ usiel: the Seattle Thunderbirds aren’t that hot. But the nearby Everett Silvertips are pretty legit. They made it to the first round of playoffs, to be beaten by my Chiefs.
I would love to see an NHL team in Seattle. There were some rumblings of making it happen, (Kurtenblog had a post about it I should find the link). But Seattle is a bit tired of building stadiums.
