The NHL ownership scandals continue; and it’s beyond Boots Del Baggio and his shady tactics for buying the Nashville Predators . . . Anaheim Ducks owner Henry Samueli has pleaded guilty to lying to federal authorities. Gary Bettman seemed unperturbed:
“The Samuelis have been terrific owners. They’re perhaps the most community-minded and charitable people in all of Orange County,” Bettman said. “I am not going to fret about something that may or may not be substantiated at the end of the day.”

Tap of the stick to OFB friend Thunderweenie for the heads up.
Let me get this straight: the NHL was too good for Jim Balsillie and his zillions of dollars (oh, and a market in southern Ontario where people actually care). And THIS del Biaggio bozo was considered a better candidate?
If anyone out there still thinks Bettman shouldn’t resign TODAY, it must be awfully tough to watch hockey with your head buried in the sand like that.
Hmmmm, Bettman said. ‚ÄúI am not going to fret about something that may or may not be substantiated at the end of the day.‚Äù Ummm Gary, if he pleads guilty I’m pretty sure it’s substantiated, whether there is evidence or not, once you plead guilty you are, in fact, GUILTY. Jesus, does this guy have a soul?
