Longtime TSN hockey fixture (and infamously colorblind NBC analyst) Pierre McGuire has named his All-Monster team, with Alex Ovechkin as the Monster Player of the Year:
He hits hard. He skates hard. Ovechkin plays with heart-felt passion, and his pure joy for the game is infectious.
There are other players who fit that description, but no one did it better this season than Ovechkin.
Check out the full Monster Player list here . . . and drool over the idea of a top line featuring Ovechkin, Vincent Lecavalier, and Jarome Iginla.

Interesting to see who’s on that list. A few of teams have two players, and players aren’t necessarily who I’d expect to be selected — valid or not.
Malone from Pittsburgh makes the list, yet no RedWing does.
Agreed, the list’s omissions were as interesting as the list itself. Speaking of Detroit, I would consider Kris Draper and (if one includes playoff performances) Franzen as well.
wow, i saw that show on the nhl network at the end of the regular season… did you guys just see it?
Personally, I’d rather see an Ovechkin, Malkin, and Iginla line. I’ve never really bought into Lecavalier.
