Image of a Season
All but a dream now.
Let’s cheer these guys, they played their hearts out to get this far. Hold on to it, and use it as inspiration for next season.
My head will be held high tomorrow… I am very proud to be a Caps fan!
Robbed . . should never have made it to overtime. Should have been 2-1 in regulation Caps.
Sorry, Caps fans – maybe us Leaf fans brought just a little bit too much bad karma to pull out the 7th game victory.
Congratulations to your Caps on a great season; you have some terrific players on this team. Guys like Semin, Backstrom, Green and (obviously) Alex the Gr8 are a treat to watch. I hope they’re not in the Leafs’ path next year (though I’d prefer it if my Buds would make the post season to at least have that chance). It was an exciting series, and your boys played hard and with great heart and determination. In the end, I think they got a little bit of the short end of the stick from the officials – the non-call on Philly’s tying goal was brutal, and after the refs put the whistles away in the second, I no longer have any idea what constitutes a penalty in this league any more.
As tough as this is to swallow, I’m proud of this team.
This hurts, but I know this team will bounce back.
The future is bright, I believe!

CAPS CAPS CAPS!
C-R-A-P CRAP CRAP CRAP!
Count me among the thoroughly Hockey Converted. I’ve drunk the Kool-Aid.
Opening Night 2008, with the raising of the banner (the first of many — FACT, not hope) of our 2007/2008 Eastern Conference Champions, I’ll be there, reacquainting myself with the hoarse lungs and headache and deaf ears of standing in a sold-out Phone Booth.
And thanks to OFB for introducing me to the bar-none BEST-written blog of ANY sport I’ve ever read.
Opening Night 2008, with the raising of the banner (the first of many ?¢‚Ǩ‚Äù FACT, not hope) of our 2007/2008 Eastern Conference Champions, I?¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢ll be there, reacquainting myself with the hoarse lungs and headache and deaf ears of standing in a sold-out Phone Booth.
Just to be clear, the Caps were Southeast Division champs, not Eastern Conference champs.
I’m proud of the boys. It’s been a lot of seasons since I’ve been able to unreservedly and without qualification say that.
The Cup is like Everest – someone else might attain the summit this year, but it’s waiting for next year’s ascent. Our boys will be ready, and so will we fans.
@DMG: Thanks. Like I said, I’m a new convert.
I love the Caps, I love OFB and I love being part of Caps nation.
We’re all coming back to contend in ‘08-09. Like a distant drum march growing steadily louder, we will truly unleash the fury this time next year.
Let’s all of us able do our part to make it tough to play in DC next season.
Bruce, NEXT year will be the greatest year of your life. To date.
I’d love to see this team raise the bar a little bit and not go overboard fanfare for winning the POS SE Division. Not to be a kill joy but it reminds me of the Vikings when they used to have a banner in the endzone with all their playoff appearances. We’re secure enough in our team. Next banners: Presidents Trophy, Eastern Conference, Stanley Cup.
As a die-hard Penguins fan, I was really pulling for the Capitals, for the obvious reason that the Flyers are scum. Plus, frankly, anyone who could watch A.O. play hockey, and not fall in love with his game and the sport, is sub-human. The way the Capitals played the last 15 games or so of the season is what it’s all about.
Proud to be a Caps fan! What else can I say.
Always have been, always will be!
This has been the best two months of sports in the 37 years I’ve been on this earth. I’m still pissed, PISSED, it ended this way though. Literally, I’ve had to hold back tears. Freakin’ get a goal called back against TB, which almost cost us dearly, and then Philly gets one in game 7. Unbelievable.
I can’t thank the Caps enough though for their efforts, their intensity and just the joy they bring to the game. Man, they’re awesome and deserve the hoist the Cup soon.
Of all the disapointments I’ve had with the Caps, (3-1 leads vs. the Pens time and again, the Islanders, the Flyers in the late 80’s) UGH!, this one hurts the most though. Can’t lie.
Always will be proud to say I am a Caps fan.
i am proud to be a flyers fan…
everyone counted us out..
and you guys would have been prouder if you made it to the 2nd round.
