Please just let Game 5 be over swiftly and as painlessly as possible. No more multiple OT playoff games for the Caps please. I don’t even want a close score. I just want to be able to turn on the game (which I won’t resist doing), and then watch a Philly barrage so I can turn it off and get on with my life.

While I understand the feeling of defeat, I’m not about to sit here and beg for the end of this run. Honestly, this season has been just incredible, and I’m not about to just let it go. As a longtime Caps fan, one who remembers ‘98, I can’t say I’ve ever been prouder to root for these guys.

Let’s get out there in Game 5, keep the crease clear, put some goals up on Biron, and get back up to Philly. Whatever happens, happens, but I think our fans deserve one more win at the VC.

By the way, as the team was walking back through the tunnel tonight, I don’t think anyone looked more crushed than Olie. Huet stood on his head tonight, that’s for sure, but it must be really tough just the same.

Ditto, automatic. This has been a great season. It ain’t over yet (a 3-1 disadvantage should not scare a Caps fan- we’ve been on the rough side of some of those), so stop pretending that this is over. This team has been fantastic all year, and we shouldn’t abandon them at this stage. This isn’t a tremendously flawed team- flawed teams don’t finish the way that the Caps did. Give them another Red Out on Saturday- they’ve earned that…

I attended 11 games this year and the Caps lost EVERY ONE, except for opening night. And for 10 of those I traveled four hours each way to do it. So I’ve suffered enough this year.

I’m a longtime fan too (since 1990) and remember a handful of painful multi-OT playoff games, all ending in disaster. Add this one to the tally.

They fought valiantly and played their guts out tonight. I’m just not looking forward to another such effort on Saturday which will end in predictable Caps playoff fashion.

This is a different team. Completely different. So, while we as fans remember the Nedved game and a bunch of other painful losses, we must support these guys. They’ve played their a$$es off for weeks now, and they can pull off the comeback. At the least, give them your full support until the last horn sounds on this season. It’s been a great ride so far…

    pepper,
I don’t know how you can be so negative about this team after they’ve proven to us that they won’t give up. This team isn’t even close to being like the teams of old. They still have a chance and now they are finally understanding playoff hockey. Our boys played fantastic last night and they aren’t done yet. There’s still hope.

Am I delusional to think, given how the Caps played must-win hockey for practically the entire month of March, that we’ve got the Flyers exactly where we want ‘em?

This series is going the distance. Get your tickets for Game 7 now. The Caps played the best game of the series so far and they’re improving. Game 5 will go the Caps and Game 6 in Philly will not even be close. Caps win in 7.

I am mostly bitter and frustrated from my own personal experience as a spectator this year. I feel cheated out of the best moments of this season, having only witnessed in person the bad ones.

Watching our guys get cut up by sticks last night with no consequence, and hosed by BS roughing and goalie interference calls, followed by the ultimate result, made me so angry, I need to give my nerves a rest. (I know we took too many men calls again too, but having to kill off other BS calls takes its toll on the PK.)

I actually do want a Game 5 win, for the fans and so all the good will of the season won’t disappear in a cloud of another early playoff exit. I will watch it on delay. I’ve gotten too wrapped up in it all, and its unhealthy quite frankly.
