I was watching the Pope's Mass from Nationals Stadium this morning. At the end of the service, the Pope invited up to the alter the "lucky 50", a small group of local faithful to be served the holy wine and bread of the service by the Pope himself.Amongst the "lucky 50" were Raul and Jean Marie Fernandez. They are close friends and co-owners of the Caps within our Lincoln Holdings Partnership. As you can see, we are pulling out all of the stops for tonight's game. And I also noted that the Pope and the Cardinals were all celebrating mass with a "red out" as well.

Thanks Grooven, for the comic relief. I’d give the slight edge to Hell. I bet you can’t even get a cheesesteak in Hell.

@Grooven — if you gave the pope your seat, imagine how upset the people behind you would be if he wore his hat? Next 3/4 rows would all be blocked…. oooof.

If the Pope wanted a seat, I’d consider sacrificing my ticket to Game 5 if he interceded (and the refs knew that if they didn’t actually call goaltender interference when warranted, well the Pope would see to it that they didn’t actually get pennance and repentance, thus guaranteeing them in Hell — which from what I understand is even worse than Philly).
I wouldn’t give up my seat for just anyone. But I know that since I don’t have that kind of power in the cosmos, perhaps the pontiff does.
Plus, he already has an appropriate Rockin’ Red attire.

So the pope can intercede in world conflict/strife, but isn’t already doing so?
