Finally . . . the Capitals are set to start their playoff run in just a few hours. The perseverance shown by the Capitals to climb out of their early-season doldrums, and their accomplishments along the way to this playoff berth, made for an incredible regular season.
For those who missed Saturday’s division-clinching game, a terrific video compiled by the Capitals’ production crew (led by Scott Brooks) closed out the night that every Capitals supporter must see. The arena burst into raucous chants of “O-lie! O-lie!” when the clip for Kolzig’s 300th win appeared. Lots of first NHL goals (Backstrom, Steckel, Shultz, etc.), Laich’s career year . . . and other celebrities like Goat and The Horn Guy are in there too. It’s a great review of the Caps’ milestones and moments in the regular season that brought them to this point–and a reminder that their arrival in the playoffs is no fluke.
With that in mind, check out the vid below. (For the music buffs: the song is “Believe” by The Bravery.)

Not to criticize, but…
“Believe” is this year’s “Ladies and Gentlemen”. Everybody is using it. (I’ve seen the Rangers pre-playoff-game clip using it as well).
(And I really don’t mean to criticize… fantastic video, just pointing out that there seem to be one or two songs a year that work so well that all the teams get their fans pumped up with them).
Does anybody know if there are any bars in Arlington that will get a decent crowd for the game?
@ Kurt:
Agreed, “Believe” is an “Oh yeah, that song” candidate this year, though as you point out it does seem to work. To the Caps’ credit they’ve been using it in-game all season–they didn’t just co-opt it for the vid because other teams were using it.
@ Josh:
If you can make it into town I strongly suggest it — the area around the Phone Booth will be electric tonight (and that’s not a pun on the predicted thunderstorms). But Bugsy’s is always an option, and if you’re near a Damon’s they will likely be showing the game too.
@Josh you can also try the front page in ballston.

At least it is better than Journey. I hate “Don’t Stop Believin’” more than I hate the Flyers, but less than I hate the Pengyunz. Why must we be subjected to it?!
For the record, “South Detroit” would be Windsor, Ont.
There’s a lot of good tunes out there to get you pumped up. With the goon reputation that the Flys have, I decided to post Lenny Kravitz performing “Bring It On” live.
