A Haven for the Hockey Malnourished

The coldest days best warm my hockey heart

Return of the Celebrity Blogger

Throughout the playoffs last year, NHL.com enlisted the services of several celebrities to blog about their favorite team throughout the playoffs. Apparently, it was well received because the NHL has announced that the celebrity blogs are back.

Each celebrity blogger will give fans an exclusive glimpse inside their world, from movie premieres to tour stops to long days of filming on TV and movie sets. NHL fans will read how celebrity hockey fans juggle their hectic schedules with their favorite team's broadcast schedule.

The list of bloggers include actors Tom Cavanagh and William Fichtner, writer/director Kevin Smith, reality TV star Rob Mariano (better known as "Boston Rob"), and actress/hockey wife Willa Ford-Modano.

The Washington Capitals' blogger is Syd Butler, bassist for Les Savy Fav. Syd grew up in the DC area and has been a "die-hard Washington Capitals fan."

You can access the celebrity bloggers at http://www.nhl.com/blogcentral/.

I wonder if Kevin Smith's blog posts will get digitally bleeped by the NHL. Too bad he didn't use the bloggername Fingercuffs. ;)

Butler, who is the son of Jack Davies' (http://capitals.nhl.com/team/app?service=page&page=NHLPage&bcid=tea_davies) girlfriend, appeared on the Conan O'Brien show a couple of months back in a red Ovechkin t-shirt - http://japersrink.blogspot.com/2008/02/your-new-favorite-band-les-savy-fav.html

J.P.,
Thanks for the reminder. I remember seeing that on your blog, now, too.

They say the second thing to go is your memory. I forget what the first thing is. ;-)

Lauren Conrad has one as well.

Clearly, the apocalypse is near.

It's so sad to see that Lauren Conrad is one of the two names in the headline. I agree that the apocalypse must be near. I guess all scenes showing her great love of hockey must have ended up on the editing room floor for her reality shows.
