Draft geeks, rejoice: for only the second time in league history, the National Hockey League’s Draft Lottery will be televised live. On Monday, April 7th, a 30-minute program titles “Scotiabank NHL Draft Lottery” will air on TSN in Canada and Versus in the U.S.
Head to NHL.com for more information about the program, as well as a refresher regarding the NHL’s draft lottery rules and weightings. The NHL will also be broadcasting the event via NHL TV.
Thankfully the Southeast Division Champion Washington Capitals will not be one of the lottery teams this year, as only non-playoff clubs are eligible.
It was very, very enjoyable to type that previous sentence.

I hope to not care about this event for a decade. Here’s to a return to many consecutive years in the post-season.
The QUARTERFINALS have seven games?!? Wow. (Sorry, I’m a newbie thinking from a baseball perspective).
So what’s the best bar in Arlington to watch the Caps from (seeing as I’ve got a snowball’s chance in you-know-where of getting a ticket)?
Juan-John — I had some friends that went down to the Green Turtle to watch the game on Saturday; they said it was ALL hockey and they enjoyed themselves (they’re not even hockey fans).
Plus you may be able to find a decent price from scalpers.
If not Bailey’s is the usually sports bar, but thats where EVERYONE watches whatever sporting event is on. Its great for fball season, never tried for a hockey game.
The Front Page is a good Caps bar. You even get discounts is you wear Caps gear.

By the way, tickets are all over eBay and Craigslist — if you can afford them, buy ‘em up before Philly fans do!

That draft special was about as exciting and informative as watching paint dry. The analysis by their panel was terrible. Not to mention the monotone announcement of the order of the picks. I wasn’t expecting much, but I was at least expecting them to show the people in New York draw the numbers live. Can I get those 30 minutes of my life back please?
