Can history repeat itself? We’ll soon find out — in the meantime, enjoy this classic from 1988 featuring Dale Hunter’s Game 7 overtime winner against the Flyers.

Watching this clip will never get old.
Thank you Dale Hunter.
No, I DON’T have to feel a little bit for Ron Hextall…screw ‘im. I hope he still has nightmares of leaving his five hole open. I hope he still dreams of laying there gazing into the lights in the rafters.
And for all the “whop-whoop” he got when he’d return to Washington, look who made that breakout pass…
If that’s the greatest goal in franchise history not scored by a player sliding on his back, then that would be, what…the greatest assist?
If the Caps can get their PP in gear it should be a great series.
arent you going to post the goal hextall scored in the playoffs against the Caps?
FlyersFan,
Wrong blog.
Settled down an hour-and-a-half east of the most despised hockey team the planet has ever seen (the Pittsburgh Penguins), and being in a newspaper business that requires I layout a section to promote said team, it nearly brought tears to my eyes to see what has been the greatest sporting moment in the history of my 29 years.
Thank you OFB for helping me relive a game I couldn’t see, but will never forget the sound of. Ron Weber screaming, unsure of whether Dale scored or didn’t, and finally the voice of my youth took a breath and I could faintly hear the siren blaring over the din of the White noise.
The game and the moment nearly had me jump out of my skin this morning. And there has never been a moment so satisying as watching Heeexxx-tallll take in the scene through the twine above him.
Here we go again. Let’s go Caps!
Speaking of classic moments against Philthy, do any of you guys have the youtube link to the 1991 Caps-Flyers brawl?
Those are great sentiments, NearTheEnemy. Thanks for sharing!
