A certain lottery ping pong ball came up Russian stud for Washington four years ago today.
The Capitals finished the 2003-04 season with the NHL’s third-worst record, and their odds of winning the Entry Draft lottery on April 6, 2004, were just 14.2 percent.
One scout’s take on lottery jewel Alexander Ovechkin: “He’s something special,” Phoenix director of scouting Vaughn Karpan told the East Valley Tribune. “He’s different from (Ilya) Kovalchuk and he’s different from (Mario) Lemieux as a player, but just as impressive in his way. He’s going to score an awful lot of goals for somebody.”
Pretty good scouting assessment, don’t you think?

Alexander who?
Never even heard of the guy! Is he on our minor league squad?
Congrats on the NASCAR Division title. Prepare to be swept by the mighty Flyers!
Is it really him on the pic?
LOL Broad Street, I hope “the mighty Flyers” are as overconfident as you are. Regardless, we shall see, it should be a fun series.
