There’s also a weird scenario with Ottawa where they lose out and Caps lose in OT in both their games. Ottawa gets the tiebreaker against Caps in that scenario.

    In some ways this win has more of a psychological value for the Caps. If Carolina wins their last two they still lock up third place. We’re still looking for help!!! Will we get it? From Montreal tonight, yes. Ottawa is at 6+ periods w/o a goal. Can it last much longer? The Habs were in Ottawa and the crowd was giving one of the teams a standing O - Montreal for the shut out, or mock applause for the Sens.
