It wasn't only Capitals gear at the game... some Capitals were there themselves.

Ted was in his season ticket seat behind the Nats dugout.

Eric Fehr, Brent Johnson, Quinton Laing, Shaone Morrisonn, and Dave Steckel enjoyed the game with their wives from the <a target="_blank" title="Picture of the Red Porch" href="http://www.jdland.com/dc/images/events/stadium-080328-firstbattingpractice-037.jpg" rel="nofollow">Red Porch</a>.

My husband and i were watching the Nats game from home. When the camera panned to show the guy who caught Chipper's home run, low and behold, sitting in the row behind him were Steckel and Laing!!

Campbell also mentioned attending hockey games at Verizon Center when he was on the one-year anniversary show of Washington Post Live.

He was actually at a hockey game I attended last year.

I gotta tell you, the twitter message I got with the headline for this article really had me baffled. My friend in upstate NY plays for the "Chiefs" a beer league hockey team. For the first time in their history, they are playing in the division championship game tomorrow night - I couldn't figure out how you knew. :-)

I was watching coverage on opening day on Comcast SportsNet around 6:30 or so before the Nats game. Chick Hernandez was interviewing Jason Campbell, the Redskins quarterback. In response to a question about the new baseball park and the sports scene in DC, Campbell mentioned how the Caps are trying to get into the playoffs and then mentioned Ovechkin. I almost fell out of my chair when I heard that. Too bad I didn't tape it.

I can see Slap Shot resonating with other athletes, particularly coaches/managers, for the window into minor league life. That, plus it's hilarious.
