The Capitals this morning announced the signing of 2006 sixth-round pick Mathieu Perreault to a three-year entry-level contract.
From the team’s press release:
“Perreault, 20, was the most valuable player in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 2006-07 and led the QMJHL in scoring this year. A 5 ‘9, 166-pound native of Drummondville, Quebec, Perreault recorded 114 points (34 goals, 80 assists) in 65 games for Acadie-Bathurst in 2007-08, his second-consecutive season.”
Perreault’s Acadie Bathurst Titan are tied with the St. John’s Fog Devils at two games apiece in the opening round of the QMJHL playoffs. Last week Perreault was named the league’s player of the month for March 2008.

what are the chances that he joins the Hershey Bears this season or this playoffs?
Greg - Take an informal survey of the Bears’ press box for what it’s worth, but names of likelys/eligibles signed by the Caps this spring, and likely targeted for at least duty with the Black Aces this spring, include the likes of Finley, Alzner, Perreault, and Bouchard. But Hershey would have to make the playoffs, too.
