The coldest days best warm my hockey heart

Young at 60

The number crunching folks at the Elias Sports Bureau took a look at all the players who scored 60 or more goals in a season. When Alex Ovechkin scored number 60 on Friday night, he became the fifth-youngest player to reach that milestone at 22 years, 186 days old. The four before him are:

  1. Wayne Gretzky (twice) in 1981-82 / 20 years, 359 days
    & 1982-83 / 22 years, 41 days

  2. Pavel Bure in 1992-93 / 22 years, 11 days

  3. Mike Bossy in 1978-79 / 22 years, 62 days

  4. Mario Lemieux in 1987-88 / 22 years, 167 days
