Backstrom's Team 4 / Backstrom's Team 1 – Wild Night for Laich

Just got home from the game — the Capitals dominated all but the first 10-15 minutes of the second period. Ladies’ Man Laich, perhaps inspired by his party last night with 300 women (Hockey n’ Heels), had one helluva game. And Olie played extremely, hearteningly, well.
I know I’m a newbie to this game, but tonight was the first one I’ve been to where I paid for my own ticket (as well as a jersey and bumper sticker. Can I say I’m hooked?). Best part for me — aside from the goals — was at some point in the third period when Ovechkin was driving toward the Wild goal and FOUR Wild players just converged/collapsed on him. I know veteran fans may say “Yeah, yeah, been there done that,” but for this burgeoning fan it was fun to watch nonetheless.

Ovechkin is a joy to watch, no matter how many times you have seen him play. Welcome to being hooked ….
Juan-John…Grasshopper…your journey has just begun. Now you have to buy (not rent: buy) a copy of Slap Shot and figure out who the two Caps coaches were in the movie. Also memorize it, especially Denis Lemieux’s explanation of icing and high-sticking. Bonus points if you can get the French-Canadian accent down pat.
Also, catch some minor league games somewhere. They’re a lot of fun.
@victor:
What about the hooking and slashing?
@ Mullet:
“OH no. You DON’ do dat. Only stupid English pigs.”
“You do that, you go to the box, you know. Two minutes by yourself, and you feel shame, you know. And then you get free.”
Brooksy got NHL’s #2 Star of the Night. Congrats 21!
There was some serious Backstrom-on-Backstrom action last night… er, never mind.
“Hey, Hanrahan! HANRAHAN! Suzanne…”
No, waitaminit. Gotta keep this a family-friendly blog.
Heh. Just looked at the IMDB page for Slap Shot and it was released 31 years and two days ago. Seems like I only saw it…a couple of weeks ago.
@ Victor:
I saw her last week eh…
oh wait, sorry that was from Youngblood, but I really did view Slapshot last weekend.
