The Hershey Bears fell at home to Portland on Wednesday night at a sold-out Giant Center, but Andrew Gordon did his part: the rookie notched his second hat trick of the season in the 4-3 loss. He has 10 goals and 16 assists in 32 Bears’ games this season. Last week, when officials from Hershey attended the Caps-Habs’ game at Verizon Center, one club representative told me, “Boyd Gordon was a terrific player for us, but this Gordon’s on a whole ‘nother level.”

Wow, he looks very young…like his is in High School.
I dont really know anything about A. Gordon – what type of player is he? grinder? playmaker? checking forward?
dmg – We covered Gordon’s game even during his St. Cloud playing days. I’d urge you to peruse a few of those back files. Often I don’t like to pigeon-hole prospects into rigid categories. But Gordon’s got a great breadth of tools in the box, as the saying goes. He’s a strong skater. Fairly fearless along the boards and in corners. And we know from George McPhee’s comments last year that he could be fast-tracked to D.C.
Fair enough. I guess what I meant was what kind of player does he project to be? But I went back and read all the posts with his name labeled/tagged and I think I’ve got a better idea now. Seems like he might develop into a Brooks Laich type player. Is that a fair assessment?
Gordo is the man. And there’s always a smile on his face. He’s great to watch.
Gordo is not only a talent on the ice but is a first class individual off of it. I had the privilege of watching him play at all three years at SCSU. Gordo always took the time to thank the students and fans for their support and built his reputation as a team first guy. I look forward to seeing him develop within the Capitals organization in the coming years.
