Wisdom Is Arriving in Washington Media

WaPost columnist Mike Wise was back in the Phone Booth last night. And WaPost photographers vividly captured last night's high drama once again. Today's WaPost sports section front looks Montreal-ish in January. What is this sudden pattern of prime puck coverage all about on 15th St.?

"Watching Ovechkin and the Caps is like watching a greased pinball careen off bumpers for two hours. Yeah, they let a few through the flippers. But mostly the lights flash, the scoreboard lights up and the masses shuffle into the night feeling good about how they spent their quarter."

You know where we stand; we'd have preferred that the virtuoso exploits and the Dean of Charm School charisma exhibited by the Gr8 these past three years had been appropriately acknowledged by local big media, but sometimes late-arriving converts make for the most impassioned disciples.

Here's today's Washington Post Sports Section front -- on Super Bowl Friday, no less:

If you look right above the 'e' in the State to the left of Ovie, there is a Canadian's fan with his hands on his head in the 'OH GOD NO' look on his face. To his left is my coworker -- his wife.

This picture is going up in my cube.

What an awesome photo; even more impressive what an Awesome game by Ovie.

It's always good to see hockey get some coverage. Hopefully it'll make a comeback one of these days. Ovechkin certainly is impressive enough to turn a few heads.

not only did the post give love to Ovie, the four goal night was the #1 highlight on Sportscenter's Top Ten Plays last night.

I have a love/hate relationship media with the Washington Media. If it wasn't for sites like this, and the Caps website, I doubt we'd hear much about our beloved Caps. This has always annoyed me, but somehow Clinton Portis' hangnail is front page news.

I think Wise has had on something very important - it's now really fun to go to a Capitals game.
